This Company produces electric energy in 24 power plants utilizing cogeneration processes, in which the biomass from sugar cane crushing is used as fuel for the boilers producing steam and energy. Raízen is also carrying out researches on straw burning in order to increase its generation capacity.

Generation exceeds consumption in 12 out of 24 units of Raízen Group, and exceeding power is sold in the Brazilian electric energy market.

The Bioenergy is a renewable energy that provides a significant reduction to greenhouse gas emissions and excellent potential as a seasonal supplement to Brazilian National Grid's hydroelectric profile.
